Apartment Building, Vrilissia
Location | Vrilissia, Athens
Date | 2021
Area | 800m2
KParchitects designed a three storey residential building with pilotis and basement, which is located in the quite neighbourhood of Vrilissia, at the approach to Pendeli mountain.
The building is developed at three levels above ground floor, including two identical apartments per floor, ca 120m2 each.
The main focus of the architectural design was to emphasize the apartments’ view towards the urban landscape and the sea. Each flat layout has been developed with an open space living room, dining area and kitchen orientated towards the view, two bathrooms and three bedrooms located on the side and north elevation.
The overall building follows the current architectural trends and designed so that it integrates harmonically to the sloping landscape deploying the orientation, the natural light and ventilation throughout the apartments. Large glass panels unify the internal with the external space, offering plenty of natural light and unobstructed view.
Architectural elements on the facades alternate between solid parts and fenestration. The linear solid planters and the transparent glazed balustrade join the building’s volumes in harmony. In addition the moving vertical louvres not only operate as an element that filters the natural light and shade, but also create a dynamic elevation to the building through its movement.
The architectural design aimed to create an energy class A, high end building, in order to observe current ecological design and making it profitable for the tenants throughout its use.
